Magnetic Fields

hi everyone!!! it's me, LORENZ!!! i guess this will be my last post for our class. Yesterday, we had a sub and she gave us a booklet 2.3 Ferromagnetism and the Domain Theory of Magnetism. She gave us time to read through it and then she told us to answer those 4 questions on 2.9 Exercise located at the back of the last page. Here are the answers that i got:

1) When magnetizing a steel nail, you must stroke it against a permanent magnet and heat or drop the magnet to lose the magnetization.

2) No, because aluminum can't be magnetize, must be made of a ferromagnetic material.

3) Real magnet can be repelled or attracted to either end, and ferromagnetic can stick on both ends.

4) It will not reflect solar radar from the sun.

After we finish correcting those 4 questions, she gave us some notes about Right Hand Rule. I am sorry but i did not copy those notes because it is already in our Chapter 24 Study Guide but i hope that everyone is now preparing for our upcoming final exam on Monday, January 26, 2009 in the school Gym at 1pm.

Like what nelsa said, everyone is been trying to finish their blog so i hope that everyone will get to finish theirs. So to continue this, i choose Lynel Pobre to do the next blog since she didn't get to do hers last time because of her other homework.

Hi guys....it's me again, Lorenz. Here's what we did today if anyone missed our class.

First, Mrs. Kozoriz gave us back our test that we had last Friday. Hope everyone passed!!! Here are the answers in case you guys did not correct your test.

1) Tuning fork compresses the air molecules and then expands the air molecules.
2) Air molecules compress and rarefacts.
3) V = 332 + (0.6)(25)
= 332 + 15
= 347m/s
4) wavelength = 3.5mm = 3.5x10^-3mm
f = ?
f = v/wavelength = 347/3.5x10^-3 = 9.5x10^4Hz
5) a. 10x10x10 = 1000x louder
b. 10x10x = 100x softer
6) No
7) f = 20/5 = 4Hz
256 - 4 = 252Hz
256 + 4 = 260Hz
8) Soldiers are marching at a steady pace in unison. This repeated small vibration increases the amplitude which could match the resonant frequency of the bridge. Soldiers should march out of step to prevent this.

10) Constructive Interference
Destructive Interference

12) V = 332 + (0.6)(4.0)
= 332 + 2.4
= 334.4m/s

= 468.16 or 470m

Secondly, we answered the Significant Figures that she gave us last Friday after the test. Here's all the answers.

hi guys...it's me Lorenz....so now you all know that I'm doing the scribe for last Friday.

So, what we did on Friday is we went over the A.Two-Dimensional Waves and the Ripple Tank, B.Wavefronts and Wave Rays, C.Reflection from a Straight Barrier: Wavefronts, D.Reflection from a Straight Barrier: Wave Rays and a little bit of section E.Reflection of Circular Waves from a Straight Barrier from the blue booklet: Two Dimensional Waves.

Wavefront - is a continuous crest and trough.
Wave Ray - is an arrow at right angles to the wavefront.

We also did the Exercises sheet. Here are some examples that we went over through.




Wavefronts are always perpendicular to the waveray.



This an example of a Reflection from a Straight Barrier.

The incident waves approaches a straight barrier and then reflected back along its original path.









Angle of Incidence = Angle of Reflection
Angle of Incidence for the wavefront is the angle between the incident wavefront and the barrier.
Angle of Reflection for the wavefront is the angle between the reflected wavefront and the barrier.
Angle of Incidence for the wave ray is the angle between the normal and the incident wave ray.
Angle of Reflection for the wave ray is the angle between the normal and the reflected wave ray.
Normal is the straight line that is perpendicular to the barrier.


Before the end of the class, she gave us the sheet Waves in Two Dimension - Assignment 1 that needs to be hand in on Tuesday, September 23.
